Mines Guest Technology Resource Access

Information & Technology Solutions (ITS) provides wireless and computer access to guests and visitors. We provide the Mines-Guest WiFi network, but if guests need to log into Mines computing resources or an application inside the firewall, they will need a campus sponsor — Mines faculty or staff — to request access for them. (A campus sponsor may submit one form for group access.) This request may take up to 48 hours to process, so please plan accordingly.

Wireless Access

To request Wireless access, visit the Guest WiFi/VPN Access page for more information about the process. Then download and complete the Mines Guest WiFi/Network Access form on that page and return it to the Mines Service Center (CTLM 156a).

Computer Accounts

Computer access may be granted to guests and visitors who do/will not have a Mines role that would otherwise allow them access to Mines computing resources. Each guest will be given an individual account that will expire upon departure. No accounts can be shared as this is a violation of the school’s Appropriate Use Policy. Violation of this policy will result in removal of accounts. All users must read and agree to the Technology Resource Access Agreement for Affiliated Programs. If minors will be using the accounts a Mines Minor’s Computer Use Waiver Form must be completed. Additional information for parents/guardians should also be read and understood. The minor and parents must also read and agree to the Technology Resource Access Agreement (above) as this form is required to communicate to parents that our network is not restricted.
To request computer accounts, a faculty or staff campus sponsor is required. (A campus sponsor may submit one form for group access.)
Please fill out a Mines Help Center request (http://helpcenter.mines.edu) at least a week in advance, if possible. Include the following:
  • # of accounts needed
  • Specify if the visitors are minors
  • Access requested (e.g., Linux or Windows computing labs)
    • Computing labs to be used
    • Specific or specialized software needed. (Not all software titles are installed in all labs. We may or may not be able to accomodate for needed software.)
  • Date(s) needed
  • Person responsible
  • Sponsoring Department
Long-term accounts may require completion of a Custom Role Authorization Form.
